Away on the Unbeaten Path
Italy is easily one of the top destinations to visit in Europe and around the world. Rome, Venice, Florence, Milan are all known to have so much to offer to visitors, including history, city landscape, art, architecture and culture. I was constantly immersed in a thrill of seeing things I've heard about and imagined in my head all my life.
One day, we just decided to take an unbeaten path to a place called Tivoli less than an hour train ride away from Rome, away from tourists and the world famous monuments.
Tivoli welcomed us with a breeze of calmness and a different kind of liveliness. One that is sustained by the locals. This town used to be a getaway destination for many wealthy Romans centuries ago, till today there are numerous villa estates open for visit.
Sometimes slow down the pace and pick a place not many people have written reviews on can be a truly rewarding surprise.
No glorious history, no Da Vinci nor Michelangelo, how Italian is this? By the wall of flowers in Villa d'Este, we'll find out through some cappuccino.
The rich scent of espresso along with the Italian spirit will forever live in this and every other less known Italian towns.
